Jobsmart is a free service from Gloucestershire College to help and support unemployed people, aged 19 (as at 31st August 2020) and above, in Gloucestershire to return to work. The courses offered by Jobsmart are tutor led and designed to support you back in to work.

The CCTV course is designed for those wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a CCTV Operator in Public Space Surveillance. This qualification is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications and is supported by the SIA, which regulates the private security industry.

What topics will be covered during the course?

  • The key purposes of the Private Security Industry
  • The difference between civil and criminal law
  • The roles and responsibilities of each member of the CCTV team
  • The importance of accurate record-keeping
  • Equipment fault reporting procedures
  • Actions to take if a suspicious object is found in the CCTV control room
  • Assessing myself for a job and Personal behaviour for success

Upon successful completion of examinations you will gain the Highfield Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry qualification.

  • These courses will be free of charge for learners aged 19 and over (as at 31st August 2020) in receipt of certain benefits or employed learners earning less than £17,004.00 annual gross salary.
