Bench Joinery or Carpentry

This is a qualification for experienced carpenters who are wanting to have their advanced carpentry skills recognised through a nationally recognised qualification.

Summary

There will be a mixture of theory workbooks to complete in order to demonstrate knowledge and then your practical skills will be recognised through site visits and other assessment methods by the College assessor who will observe you and carry out assessments to determine your competence.

To achieve this qualification a minimum of 9 units need to be attained. This comprises of 7 units from the Mandatory Group and 2 units from the Optional Group.

Installing bespoke second fixing components in the workplace

Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace

Assessment

You will be assessed through a variety of methods including workplace assessments, witness testimonies, product evidence and theory workbooks
