The course will cover some basic skills and developmental drawing especially designed for printmaking using lino cut; how to use the tools and printing on a variety of surfaces including fabric.
There will also be an introduction to collagraph printing using a variety of print colours.
You will be able to use mono printing to explore ways that you can use it to sketch images and combine with mixed media.
A two-week block will be devoted to the cyanotype printing process where you can explore ways to redefine images from photographs and drawings.
For the final week you will be given the opportunity to revisit areas of the course that you would like to further advance in skills.
You will have the opportunity to use your own ideas for images and your own choice of fabrics. This course is designed to be an exploration off what you can do with print while making it fun at the same time. Tools will be provided but there will be a small additional cost towards materials as we move on in the course.
Please bring your own A3 sketchbook and a selection of pencils. Some preliminary ideas on images that you would like to print would also be useful even though we will be experimenting with image design during the course.
Your tutor will regularly review your activities and offer support and guidance. You will be encouraged to identify small realistic and achievable goals to work towards during the course and will be asked to keep a learning log to monitor your progress and achievement within the group. There is no qualification associated with this course.
